Friday & a card

Hi there! On Wednesday my in-laws closed on their new house so I whipped up this card to give to them yesterday evening.
Oh, excuse me Bruiser, I must have missed the Jack Russell crossing sign, let's try this again...
Yesterday it rained (at last!) but it left me without my usual photo spot, so this will have to do.

Inside I wrote, "we are so happy for y'all!" with a Sharpie.

I used a strip of double stick tape to layer honeydew & peapod twine for a grass effect.

After running the card through my Cuttlebug to cut the heart, the paper didn't really want to lay flat, so I decided to make the card a tie open style. I punched 2 holes in the side & came up with this little knot to keep the maraschino twine in place once the card is opened.

Used some old KI Memories stickers for the Congrats.

And most importantly, they loved it :)

Supplies used:

Pattern paper: Echo Park

Chipboard houses: American Crafts

Stickers: KI Memories; red heart, Colorbok

Heart Die: Quickutz

So, how's life been treating you?? Things here have been busy but good. I love that the fall shows are back. I watched the first episode of 2 Broke Girls & New Girl & ed them both! The more recent ones are recorded & will be watched this weekend :) I also ended up watching Revenge which I'm so happy I did, love this one too! I'm super pleased with Modern Family (this show can do no wrong in my eyes) & I was happy with the premiere of The Office. Well, I'll be back next week with another card to share & hopefully a few other crafty creations as well.

Happy Friday & have a fab weekend!

The Twinery BLOG HOP!

Hi there! Welcome to The Twinery's Blog Hop!

I hope you're "hopping" here from The Twinery's Blog!

Today I have this sweet Miss You card I made for my former boss turned HR rep, Lynn, that's moving to a new city & leaving us at the end of the month. She was actually the person that hired me 5.5 years ago & we've become such good friends over the years. I ♥ making cards for her- she has a whole bulletin board in her office filled with them to prove it! :)

For this card I didn't want the sentiment to get lost in the patterned paper, so I decided to cover it with vellum. That way the pattern would still be visible, but the focal point would stand out.

Inside I cut a piece of white cardstock to write my sad goodbyes & punched a little heart at the bottom.

The vellum is adhered solely using pink sorbet twine-no adhesives! I just punched a hole in each corner & "sewed" the vellum down.

I looped some stone twine through the button to dot the i.

One more close up!

Lynn, you will be SO missed :(

paper: pink, white (Recollections); pattern (Fancy Pants); vellum (The Paper Studio)

stickers: scallop (Crate Paper); Thickers (American Crafts)

other: button (Michaels); ♥punch (Marvy Uchida)

Now the fun part- how would you like to win The Ultimate Twine Sampler Pack?!?

The Twinery has generously given me a pack to give away to one very lucky reader!

All you have to do to win is leave me a comment telling me:

what's your favorite Twinery twine color?

a big custom order

Hi there! A week or so ago I had the pleasure of working with such a fun new customer for this huge custom order. I present to you: the pink & grey shower!
We did a total of four it's a girl banners... 2 in grey polka dots.

and 2 in pink polka dots.

We also did a sweets table sign that reads "enjoy me"

The candy shapes are a new design for the shop & I've already made another for a different order I'll be sharing soon :)

I LOVE the pink & grey combo & can't believe I don't have tons of pink & grey already in my shop- never fear it'll be here soon :)

It's been so long since I've blogged, I feel like I have tons to catch up on! Today I'll narrow it down to a little TV talk since all the fall shows are debuting right now. Here's what I'll be watching...

In the "new" show category, I've decided to give these a try:

2 Broke Girls

New Girl

Suburgatory

I'll give them a couple of episodes before I decide to keep watching or delete. The Playboy Club & PanAm caught my eye, but I already watch so many shows, I don't think I'm going to fit these in.

Old shows I'm so excited to see back:

The Sing Off- starts tonight, yay!

Dancing with the Stars- not so excited, but I'll be watching none the less

Gossip Girl- next Monday, who's pregnant from the season finale?? We shall see!

Sons of Anarchy- started after Labor Day, so happy it's back :)

Modern Family- SO happy Claire & Phil won Emmys! ♥

The Office- it will never be the same w/out Steve Carrell, but I still love it.

Desperate Housewives- even though I missed the last episode last season, oops!

So, what will you be watching this season? Any recommendations?

Happy Monday!

I'm back!

Hi there, long time, no blog! I've been dealing with a large rush of "busy" these last 2 weeks but I'm back in the swing of things :) Last week was my big office move at work & we also got a new group of interns- which is a busy time regardless!

Here's my new office, before & after style...

First, a shot of my old office, SO tiny! This picture was taken from the door & while it doesn't capture it all, take my word, it was cramped! (taken once it was packed up)

A before shot of the entry to my new office that was being used for storage... we were all so sad to see this big space with a huge window be turned to a storage room last year. Luckily we have a new dean & he's made lots of changes for the better.

And this is the after shot of the same area.

A really scary before shot!- behind the shelves on the left you can see a little bit of the windows peaking through. Some people didn't even know this space had windows!

and after! Granted, it's just an ugly parking lot view, it's still a view :)

(my old office had the same windows & outlook)

All the new space behind my desk! I love it!

A before shot of the main wall...

And after!

Needless to say, I LOVE my new office! It's so, so nice & roomy.

Also, the paint turned out just fine- I was so nervous beforehand & when I saw it, I thought, why would I ever think this would be too dark? It's actually way lighter than the sample I selected it from- it's almost hard to tell it's even painted :)

The only casualty of the big move was my sweet little hydrangea. I'm so sad about this. My first indoor plant & I killed it :( This happened suddenly & unexpectedly. Last week I got this new pot for it. The one it came in let all the water out & the leaves were starting to brown a little. This new pot held all the water in. So last Friday I watered it in the morning & again before I left (I was still on Labor Day 3 day weekend thinking I guess). I remember Friday noticing the brown was going away & I thought it looked much better. Then Monday I came in to find it looking like this. I noticed all the water was still in there so I've since drained it & I'm hoping it will come back to life although I don't think that's very likely.. Maybe I'll try to find another one like it.

Well, I hope to be back to a more regular blogging schedule next week :) Also, next week The Twinery will be having a huge team blog hop that you won't want to miss (prizes!)

Happy Thursday!

show and tell Thursday

Hi there! Today I'm back with the pictures I was going to post yesterday :)

This weekend I picked up these 5 jars at a thrift shop...

The set of five, a mere $12.99, sold!

We found this tuna press for $3 at Ross. I eat tuna for lunch e.v.e.r.y. day. I never knew such a thing existed- you open the can, stick it in, & press all the water out without getting it on your hands. I love this thing!

I painted my toenails this lovely shade of orange. This is actually a scaled down version of my toenail- no matter how I edited, my actual toes just aren't presentable today :) This orange may just be my new pink.

Week 3 of forever.
and last, a new banner coming soon.

In other things, today is September 1st and in my mind summer is officially over :( I always have a hard time saying goodbye to Christmas & summer. But with each end is the other's beginning. I'm so looking forward to the holidays & have already started planning.. well, kind of. I am planning a massive clean/organization of the entire house. Clean house=peace of mind. That way if/when we get asked to host Thanksgiving/Christmas it won't be such a stress. I plan to tackle one area every few days & get rid of things that have just become clutter. I hope we'll also be more careful when shopping after the big clean & ask ourselves, do we really need this? so we'll prevent the same situation from happening again.

Happy Thursday!
